The now 50 year old Scientific Boys Club decides to build a ship with which they plan to sail to Mars on the "Ethereal Current", curious to see if there is life on Mars.
While out grocery shopping, meek, middle-aged Samuel Smith and family pet Rover are run over by a speeding car. Fortunately for them, an ambulance shows up right away. Unfortunately for them, the ambulance attendant mistakenly treats Sam with dog plasma and Rover with human plasma. Both immediately recover - after which Sam starts erupting into bouts of dog-like behavior and Rover begins walking and talking like a human being, much to the consternation of the people around them, especially Sam's wife, Margaret.
A group of farm animals run away and form an a cappella quartet. Four animals discover their talent singing together and try to use their newfound quartet to make it through life.

He also saves a train from a dynamited bridge, and a girl tied to a cactus, before riding into the sunset (and back to his suburban bed).
The start of an adventure can come from a loss. In this case, a small hermit crab, Bernard, the hero of the story, loses his protective shell. To face the dangers of the beach, thus stripped bare, he will need the help of an unusual friend.

Donald and Goofy rent a sailboat. This boat is a bit unusual: to rent it, you put a nickel in a slot, and the mast and sail pop up. Unfortunately, after a while, they pop back down. When Donald runs out of nickels, they are marooned. Goofy waves his shirt at a passing cruise ship, but they (and he) mistake this for a friendly greeting. A flying fish lands in the boat; while the boys fight over it, a gull grabs it. They try to bash the gull, which lands atop their heads, with predictable results. Finally, as the sharks circle, they try fishing, with Donald as the unwitting bait. He eventually lands back in the boat, where his bill lands in the coin slot and gives them a way home.
Nalle-Maja is with the family on a picnic, but no one seems to want to play with her. When she drinks XYZ juice alone and becomes tiny, everything takes a new turn. Should the others find her and is it possible to make a difference if you are as small as an ant?
