A series of mysterious murders has rattled a small town-and the detective investigating the crimes, who finds him further wrapped up in the case, until he becomes the leading suspect himself.
This is a story of a wealthy young man, accustomed to the gaieties of café and club life who falls in love with and marries a poor girl, who is infatuated with him. After marriage, however, the young man fails to give up his fast friends and continues to live his gay life. The wife is unhappy and one night when her husband returns home intoxicated, she packs her grip and quits the house. She goes to a railroad station and while waiting for a train, faints. She is taken to the station hospital. The husband awakens and finds his wife gone.
A band of robbers are playing cards in the foreground of the picture. Suddenly one of the gang who has been on the lookout for the stage coach rides up in great haste. They quickly dodge behind a clump of trees and lay in wait. Soon the coach appears and is stopped by the bandits. The occupants are compelled to come down from their hiding places at the point of the gun and after being relieved of their valuables, are allowed to continue on their way. As soon as the stage drives off the robbers make for their ponies and take to the woods.

Peggy, a dance hall girl, takes the fancy of the leader, the Apache Kid, and he abducts her and takes her with them when they make their escape.

Rev. Horace Brightray, pastor of a New England village church, is ordered by his physician to seek another climate. He goes to Agua Caliente, where he attempts to hold services in the hotel dining room, but nobody attends excepting the hotel clerk and maid, and a dance hall girl, Bubbles. The proprietor of the Legal Tender saloon is very bitter toward Horace and commands them not to attend services. Horace is soon out of funds and is ejected from the hotel. Sick and hopeless, he goes to the Legal Tender and slaps Frosty across the face with his hat, feeling sure it will mean death to him.
An aspiring Hollywood actress working on her first feature--a no-budget horror flick oddly crewed by enthusiastic teenagers--and a cowboy on a mysterious job arrive in the small border town of Del Rio, Texas, each with their own very clear agenda.
